The NEW Fitzroy Readers Running Records (FRRRs) are a simple and intuitive tool designed to help educators track student reading progress.
FRRRs assess proficiency in reading aloud on three measures: Fluency, Accuracy and Punctuation. These are tracked using a simple 1-5 scale, where 1 is 'getting started' and 5 is 'got it'.
Fluency is the smoothness and speed with which the reader connects sounds, syllables, words and phrases.
Accuracy is a measure of a student's ability to decode and pronounce words correctly. (FRRRs do not require educators to count errors.)
Punctuation is as essential as the words themselves in signalling how text is to be interpreted. This measure on the FRRRs tracks how deftly the student incorporates punctuation into their reading.
